<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide distributed monitoring technology capable of easily monitoring a distributed characteristic of an optical communication system with high accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: This monitor uses a data flip-flop (DFF) 11 with required identification phase and identification threshold set therein to perform identification processing of a received signal, averaging output signals of the data flip-flop 11 with an integrating circuit 14, and determines a change in a received waveform on the basis of a level change in an output signal from the integrating circuit 14 to detect a distribution fluctuation that occurs in the system. This makes it possible to monitor the distributed characteristic of the system with high accuracy by a circuit configuration that is slow in comparison with the transmitting speed of signal light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
