<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication method which is a combination of error correction coding and transmission diversity, and also to provide a system therefor. <P>SOLUTION: A transmitter provided in the communication system includes a serial/parallel converter 301 for receiving serial message bits and converting the bits to parallel bits, a plurality of encoders 303<SB>1</SB>to 303<SB>L</SB>for applying a multilevel coding method to the message bits received from the converter 301, a mapper 305 for mapping the encoded bit signal, an STBC encoder 307 to apply a time-space block coding method to the mapped signal, and two antenna elements 110a, 110b for transmitting the time-space block encoded signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
