PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material for gasket having heat resistance and adhesiveness equal to or higher than those of a gasket material subjected to chromate treatment, having adhesiveness and durability, particularly, against antifreezing fluid, and causing no problem also in environmental aspect. SOLUTION: In this material for gasket installed in the engine of a vehicle, a rubber layer is formed on one or both surfaces of a steel plate through a film formed of reaction product between acid components and metal or reaction product between the acid components and metal compounds and silica.
