PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for retaining a bag in an open state, on which the bag can be inserted easily to retain the bag in the open state and with which the bag can be retained certainly in the open state by an opening securing mechanism to apply an elastic force in the open direction to the opened edge of the bag retained in the opened state and from which the bag retained in the opened state can be removed easily. SOLUTION: The device 1 for retaining the bag in the open state is devised to hang the bag, the opened edge of which is retained in the open state and has the opening securing mechanism 2, with which the opened edge of the bag is retained in an opened shape by putting the opened edge of the bag on it. The the opening securing mechanism is provide with an expansion and contraction function, by which an elastic force is applied in the direction to expand the profile by operating the mechanism, on which the opened edge is put, in the open direction and the elastic force is applied in the direction to contract and secure the profile by operating the mechanism in the close direction. A bag holding mechanism 2, which is provided on the upper part of a self-standing stand 3, is composed of a two split ring 7, 7 having a nearly circular profile and an arm part 8, 8 fixing the ring to the self-standing stand 3.
