<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a webbing winding device capable of shortening the generating time of mechanical sounds in diagnosis of a motor. <P>SOLUTION: The webbing winding device includes an ECU 86 to control a motor 60 to which a reversing current is fed for reversing its output shaft 62 at the time of diagnosis, and judgement whether the motor 60, the ECU 86, and/or a driver 82 are functioning normally is passed on the basis of whether the output shaft 62 is in reverse rotation. Therein the ECU 86 feeds the motor 60 with a current directed oppositely to the foregoing direction at the diagnosis ending time or immediately before it. Because the driving force generated by the motor 60 at this time acts in the direction opposite the rotation of the output shaft 62 till the time, the output shaft 62 is stopped forcedly. Thereby the output shaft 62 can be stopped in a short time, and the generating time of mechanical sounds due to the rotation of the output shaft 62 can be shortened. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
