<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spiral rod along with an overhead transmission line capable of preventing electric erosion and easily applied even to an existing line for an increased current capacity. <P>SOLUTION: A spiral rod 4 comprises a surface layer 4b formed from the same kind of metal material as a conductor of an overhead transmission line, and a core 4a that has a higher heat conductivity than the surface layer 4b and whose surface is covered with the surface layer 4b. The spiral rod 4 is wound around the transmission line. So, the heat generated at the transmission line is transferred to the core 4a through the surface layer 4b contacting to the transmission line, and released outside through the surface layer 4b exposed to the outside air. Thus, the transmission line is cooled to allow increase of a current capacity. Since the outer layer 4b is formed from the same kind of metal material as the conductor of the transmission line, electric erosion caused by contacting between metals of different kind is prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
