<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a station to automatically change an infrastructure mode to an ad-hoc mode under specific conditions. <P>SOLUTION: When stations ST40 (SA, DA) start communication from the infrastructure mode, search for packets flying past each other in an infrastructure network 31, and intercept a packet that uses a self station ST40 (DA) as a destination and is addressed to an access point SaAP50 (BSSID), it is judged that a communicating party can use the same ad-hoc network 32 for communicating and the SpAP50 allows a channel for ad-hoc to be searched for at a CH search section 53, and one channel is posted to the targeted ST40 (SA, DA) at a switching control section 54 for directly communicating with the two by the channel of the ad-hoc network 32.
