<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector for a card reduced in size and weight. <P>SOLUTION: This connector for a card is so structured that a contact piece 12 of each terminal 1 is faced to a card receiving cavity cooperatively formed by an insulated housing 2 and a metal shell 3 to engage with a contact 51 of the card 5 inserted into the card receiving cavity. The insulated housing 2 is formed into a flat L-shaped form with a terminal mounting part 21 for mounting the terminals 1, and a side wall part 22 extending by crossing generally at right angles with the mounting part 21. The metal shell 3 has: a nearly-square covering plate part 31 overlaid on the mounting part 21 and the wall part 22; a first side plate part 32 generally vertically drooped from one side edge of the plate part 31 and extending along the outside surface of the wall part 22; and a second side plate part 33 generally vertically drooped from the other side edge of the plate part 31 and facing the wall part 22. One side of the card receiving cavity is partitioned by the wall part 22 of the insulated housing 2, and the other side thereof is partitioned by the plate part 33 of the metal shell 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
