PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote control apparatus capable of controlling a receiver by easily setting a channel not in use even when the receiver is receiving an interference wave which the remote control apparatus cannot receive. SOLUTION: The remote control apparatus 1 is provided with a manual shift function to be able to change a channel (frequency) to start carrier sensing. Further, when the manual shift function changes a start channel, a storage section 13 stores the start channel. Thus, even when power is interrupted and then turned on after a while, the carrier sensing can be started from a channel having been changed before turning off the power. Moreover, when an automatic selection mode of channels is set at carrier sensing in the remote control apparatus 1, setting is made such that a channel to start the carrier sensing is changed to another channel every time when power is turned off/on.
