PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting device of high reliability which will not degradation in the characteristics of light-emitting pixels comprising a light-emitting substance for EL, related to a passive type display device. SOLUTION: Light emitting elements in which a thin film containing a light-emitting substance is sandwiched, where a first electrode crosses with a second electrode, are arrayed into a matrix form. The first electrode is formed on the main surface of the substrate, with a part of the first electrode exposed. An electrically insulating barrier wall is provided parallel to the second electrode. The cross-sectional shape of the barrier wall comprises a slope, in which an opening expands starting from a lower end part that contacts the first electrode to the upper end part, with the slope being curved and the thin film containing the light-emitting substance formed along the curved shape.
