PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin thermal fuse with improved reliability, improved tensile strength of a lead wire, and a good assembling property. SOLUTION: A thin insulator is formed by forming a pair of protrusions (7) extending along each long side (5) at both sides of the upper surface of an insulating substrate (1) having nearly a rectangular flat shape functioning as a lower case, and forming a recess (8) between the protrusions (7), and forming a bank-shaped protrusions (9) at both ends of the recess (8) at the short side (6) sides of the insulating substrate (1). An engaging part (10) for positioning, having a shape corresponding to the protrusion (9) capable of engaging thereto, is formed at the inside end part of a pair of belt-shaped lead conductors (2) of which the inside end parts are housed in the recess (8), and the inside ends of the housed pair of the lead conductors (2)are connected by a fuse element (3), and a lid (4) is mounted on the insulation base board (1) through a sealing agent.
