PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of metal powder by which, on reducing a metal halide with a reducing gas, the efficiency of recovering metal powder is high, variation in grain sizes is reduced, and a narrow grain size distribution range can be obtained. SOLUTION: In the method where gaseous metal halide (gaseous NiCl<SB>2</SB>) flowing inside a reaction tube 1 is reduced with gaseous hydrogen as a reducing gas to produce Ni powder, the air flow of the reducing gas is formed in a direction crossed with the longitudinal direction of the reaction tube 1. The gas flow of the reducing gas is formed so as to be a gas curtain shape. The gas flow of the reducing gas goes to a direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the reaction tube 1 or to the downstream side of the flowing direction of the gaseous metal halide therefrom.
