POLYCARBONATE COPOLYMER AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polycarbonate resin which has mechanical strength equivalent to that of an existing polycarbonate resin using bisphenol A as a raw material and also has a high refractive index and excellent optical characteristics. SOLUTION: The invention provides a polycarbonate copolymer with a specific structure composed of a repeating unit of a bisphenol type having a sulfur atom and a repeating unit of a bisphenol type having no sulfur atom. The polycarbonate copolymer has a reduced viscosity [ηsp/c] of 0.1 dL/g or higher when a solution obtained by dissolving the copolymer in methylene chloride as a solvent at the concentration of 0.5 g/dL is measured at 20°C.
