摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sapphire single crystal which is manufactured by a Verneuil method and which has decreased crystal defects such as froth and obviates coloring by irradiation with UV rays, and raw materials for such sapphire single crystal. SOLUTION: The sapphire single crystal is manufactured by using the raw materials for the sapphire single crystal containing Ti at 3 to 20 ppm of aluminum atomic number and one or more among Fe, Co and Ni at 3 to 20 ppm in total of the aluminum atomic number.
