PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive ribbon cassette for keeping print quality regardless of variation in the diameter of a ribbon being wound around a ribbon take-up roller while sustaining the feature of a ribbon cassette, i.e. excellent operability of ribbon replacing operation. SOLUTION: The ribbon cassette comprises a ribbon containing section and a rotary section wherein the ribbon containing section contains an ink ribbon and a ribbon feed roller is provided on a ribbon carrying passage between a print position and the ribbon take-up roller. The rotary section pivots on a rotary shaft provided at the ribbon containing section and under a state where the rotary section is closed, a pinch roller is pressed against the ribbon feed roller through the ink ribbon by means of a compression spring. The ribbon feed roller has a means for transmitting a driving power from the printer body and the driving power transmitting section is coupled/uncoupled through an operation from the printer body.
