PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an end mill improving the efficiency in the grooving by improving the shape of a chip groove and improving chip discharging performance. SOLUTION: In a cross section of a spiral curved surface of a lead such as orthogonally crossing with a torsional surface forming a cutting face of an outer circumferential cutting blade 2 of the end mill, a chip discharge groove 4 is formed with a projecting curve separated from the groove bottom and radially projecting in a position toward a heel 6 of an adjoining cutting blade and a recessed curve in a range continuing from the projecting curve and reaching the heel of the adjoining cutting blade. The projecting curve has the curvature radius smaller than that of the recessed curve, projects radially to the recessed curve and a recessed curve forming the cutting face, and is formed in a narrow range to restrict the chip, curl it into a small size and discharge it smoothly. The recessed curve formed in the range continuing from the projecting curve and reaching the heel of the adjoining cutting blade secures the sufficient area of the chip discharge groove for storing the chip.
