The automatic mechanical brake has at least one brake shoe (8) into which is built a spring element which tensions the locking roller or ball in relation to the drive component (3) and brake shoe. The brake shoe has an area with an inner cylindrical section which extends concentrically to the outer region of the brake shoe, and a radial recess (14) is provided in the inner region of the brake shoe through which with contact of the locking roller or ball the brake shoe is operated.
