摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an initializing method by which a crystal state with improved recording characteristic which cannot be found by conventional technology is defined, and the crystal state is realized, for a phase transition type optical disk consisting of Sb and Te mainly as constitutional components of a recording layer. <P>SOLUTION: In this initializing method, initialization is performed in conditions in which the strength ratio P1/P2 of peak height P1 found near 2&theta;=27 to 31&deg; and peak height P2 found near 2&theta;=39 to 44&deg; is &ge;10 in an X ray diffraction pattern measured by a thin film X ray diffraction method in a crystallization state of an optical recording medium provided with a recording layer consisting of phase transition materials and disposed on a substrate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
