PLANT LEAF FORMATION-RELATED PROTEIN AS2, AND GENE ENCODING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish a technique for developing symmetric and flat leaves in plant and establishing the veins of leaves, specifically to establish a gene for the technique.

SOLUTION: The plant leaf formation-related protein AS2 controlling the transcription of a specific gene in the nucleus of a plant cell, the development of symmetric and flat leaf blades and the establishment of the veins of leaves, more specifically having a cysteine reiterated sequence consisting of cysteine-rich C-motifs and leucine zipper-like motifs is provided. A DNA encoding the protein AS2 and a composition for controlling plant leaf formation using the DNA are also provided respectively.
