SINGLE INTEGRATED CIRCUIT FOR OPTICAL MOUSE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single integrated circuit for an optical mouse, which attains reduced production cost and improved optical mouse function.

SOLUTION: A single integrated circuit for an optical mouse comprises the following in an optical mouse containing a single integrated circuit: an image pixel array which reacts depending on the quantity of light reflected from a bottom face of the optical mouse and discriminates between the light and shade of the bottom face; an analog/digital converter which receives an analog signal from the image pixel array and converts the value of each image pixel into a digital signal; a motion vector calculation part which converts data from the analog/digital converter into one bit and find out a motion vector; a motion vector processing part which accumulates the motion vector from the motion vector calculation part, corrects an error and accumulates the moving distance of the mouse; a timing signal generating part which generates a control signal required for the whole operation of the integrated circuit in the optical mouse, and provides the required control signal according to the operation state of the integrated circuit; an interface which processes the value processed in the motion vector processing part so that the value can be transmitted to a PC; and a transceiver which enables either USB or PS/2 in the interface.
