PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission ratio control device for a continuously variable transmission capable of detecting and correcting loss of synchronism at a desired transmission ratio. SOLUTION: This transmission ratio control device for a continuously variable transmission uses a step motor for a driving actuator for a speed change control valve. It is provided with a loss-of-synchronism determining means S17b to compare a variable ASTP representing a step position of the step motor for every prescribed computation cycle with a step position BSTP of the step motor necessary for achieving a desired transmission ratio, and determine generation of loss of synchronism in the step motor in a case of ASTP≠BSTP, a loss-of-synchronism correcting means S17d and S17f to correct the ASTP in such a direction as to reduce difference between the ASTP and the BSTP when loss of synchronism is determined as existing, and a drive means to drive the step motor using the ASTP after correction.
