PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning method, a cleaning liquid and a cleaning cartridge applicable to a thermal ink jet printer, for example, in order to remove deposits adhering to the thermal action surface of a liquid chamber. SOLUTION: In the cleaning method of a liquid ejection head where liquid held in a liquid chamber is heated by driving a heating element and ejected from a nozzle, a specified cleaning liquid is introduced to the liquid chamber 18 in place of the liquid, and the heating element is driven to remove deposits adhering to the thermal action surface of the liquid chamber 18 by the cleaning liquid which is a solution for oxidizing/dissolving a metal layer 15.
