摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform path switching promptly on the order of an interruption time with a continued service in operation, when modifying settings of a cross connection, as a cross connection control method in an SDH/SONET synchronous transmission system. SOLUTION: The system includes a terminating section demultiplexing an STM/OC signal to a plurality of signals consisting of AU/STS units; a higher-order group cross connection for cross connecting the signals from the terminating section on a higher-order group basis; a first selector for selecting an arbitrary signal branching in the higher-order group cross connection; a lower-order group cross-connection for demultiplexing the input signals from the first selector into lower-order VC/VT units, multiplexing by cross connecting, and outputting to the higher-order group cross connection; and a second selector for selecting the cross-connection signals of VC/VT units branching from the higher-order group cross connection, and outputting the selected signals to a selection multiplexer.
