PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission with an auxiliary shift mechanism in which an auxiliary shift mechanism can be incorporated without significant increase in the length of a transmission, and which can be satisfactorily put to practical use as a transmission for a FF vehicle. SOLUTION: The transmission is equipped with a first intermediate shaft 23 provided coaxially and free to relatively rotate with a counter shaft 22 provided in parallel to a main shaft 21, a main shifting means for shifting between the main shaft 21 and the first intermediate shaft 23, a second hollow intermediate shaft 24 provided coaxially and free to relatively rotate with the counter shaft 22, a third intermediate shaft 26 which is provided in parallel with the counter shaft 22 and coupled with the first intermediate gear 23 through the medium of the first auxiliary transmission gear train and with the second intermediate gear 24 through the medium of the second auxiliary transmission gear train, and a synchromesh mechanism S4 for auxiliary transmission in which the counter shaft 22 is selectively coupled with either the first intermediate gear 23 or the second intermediate gear 24.
