PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To create a usage of recovered liquid food containers that makes mass use of the containers possible and provide a packaging material for a liquid food and manufacturing method for the same, which makes the packaging material safe in terms of food hygiene through foul smell prevention and sterilization. SOLUTION: According to the manufacturing method, the packaging material comprises a paper layer consisting of an intermediate layer made of a long fiber pulp recycled from wastepaper and respective inner/outer paper layers covering both surfaces of the intermediate layer and made of a virgin pulp mainly composed of long fiber, and thermoplastic resin layers layered on the outside of the paper layer. The long fiber pulp composing the intermediate layer is prepared using a bleached long fiber pulp recycled from only the wastepaper of liquid food containers that is recovered through a milk pack recovery route, and the recycled pulp is at least sterilized before or in a papermaking process in preparing the paper layer.
