PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus capable of improving the appearance of an image to be printed on the basis of image data by maintaining the continuity of the image data which is read and generated by eliminating reading operation interruption due to a paper feeding error, and to provide a control method of this recording apparatus. SOLUTION: The recording apparatus is provided with an image reading means for reading an image from an original to generate image data, a memory area for writing the image data to store the data, and a printing means for printing a printing image on an object to be printed fed from a paper feeding mechanism. The image data are successively written into the memory area until the memory area runs out of residual regions, and when the memory area has no residual regions, the image data are written into regions of the memory area where the read image data have existed. In this apparatus, the image reading means starts a reading operation after the completion of the paper feeding operation of the paper feeding mechanism. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
