PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extensible and contractible input pen used for a pressure-sensitive handwriting input device that extends the whole length in an input operation to facilitate the holding, contracts the whole length when housing in an input device to facilitate the housing in a small input device, has a simple structure to improve the assembling property, and enables the smooth movement of an inner shaft 2 within a shaft cylinder 1 to facilitate the operation for extension and contraction. SOLUTION: The inner shaft 2 is moved longitudinally backward in relation to the shaft cylinder 1 to extend the whole length in the input operation by the input pen to facilitate the holding. When the input pen is housed in the input device, the inner shaft 2 is moved longitudinally forward in relation to the shaft cylinder 1 to shorten the whole length. Further, an elastic piece 2B having cut grooves 1A longitudinally extended in parallel is formed on the inner shaft 2 in order to smooth the movement of the inner shaft 2 to the shaft cylinder 1, and a protruding part 2C formed on the elastic piece 2B is brought in frictional contact with the inner surface 1B of the shaft cylinder 1.
