PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical grinding mill, in which nipping efficiency (opportunities to crush) of a material to be crushed in a crushing roller is improved, and the amount of material circulating in the outside of the mill is reduced. SOLUTION: The vertical grinding mill includes a rotary table, which is pivoted to have a horizontal surface, and rotated about a vertical axis by a driving device, a pipe for feeding material in the direction to the table, a plurality of crushing rollers disposed on the table to rotate with rotation of the table, and a circular spatial-passage provided in the periphery of the table in order to extract crushed products out of the mill. The mill comprises further a hood in the shape of an inverted cup, in which principal discharge-ports formed as notches and unnotched auxiliary discharge-ports are alternately provided.
