PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dust collector which can easily eliminate the clogging of the filter part and a vacuum cleaner using the same. SOLUTION: The dust collector is provided with a dust collection container with one end face thereof opened, a lid body which is openably mounted on the opened end face of the dust collection container while forming an exhaust port and a filter part which is housed inside the dust collection container and made to communicate with the exhaust port of the lid body to form a cyclone space along with the internal surface of the dust collection container. The filter part is mounted inside the dust collection container so as to make it get in or out in the direction of projecting outside the dust collection container with the lid body kept open, and moreover, a cleaning member for cleaning up the filter part is provided inside the dust collection container so as to contact the outside surface of the filter part.
