The window shade is composed of a number of slats, where each slat (1) is on a swing mounting at the upper end (2) of a holder (3) at one side. The lower end (4) of the holder is attached to a slide (5), with a longitudinal movement along parallel guide rails (6) in guide channels (7). The slides are moved to and fro along the channels by a chain, cable, belt (10) and the like. The slat angle can be set by reversing the slide movements and, when the slides are moved back fully, the slats are moved into a parked position. The slides or the holders are of plastics materials.
