<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a coated food without causing the spill of valuable components such as a tasty component and provide a coated food produced by the method. <P>SOLUTION: The coated food is produced by coating the surface of a food with a thickener causing viscosity increase or gelation by the reaction with cation, a stabilizer, a paste or a gelling agent without heat-treating an immersion solution or adding a cation before coating. Gellan gum, pectin or alginic acids can be used as the thickener, stabilizer, paste or gelling agent. A high-quality food free from the spill-out of the tasty component, having high preservability and resistant to oxidation and drying can be produced by the method.
