The last engaging or releasing state of the lock-up clutch is kept as a present state of the lock-up clutch under traveling conditions that the input rotating speed Ni is less than a predetermined value Ni(2) (>Ni(1)), and the car speed VSP is in an area C of more than a predetermined value VSP(2) (>VSP(1)).
