PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the operability and the user-friendliness when a read condition is set to each image in the case of batch scanning. SOLUTION: An image read system applies rough scanning to a plurality of images from an original to generate index purpose image data corresponding to each image, displays a plurality of produced image data as index images 50 as a list, and also displays a first entry section 60 to instruct presence / absence of main scanning and a second entry section 70 to enter an image read condition corresponding to each of the index images within the list-up display at the same time, and permits the entries to the first and second entry sections 60, 70 through operations. In response to operations to start the main scanning, the system continuously applies main scanning to the image main scanning of which the first entry section 60 instructs under the read condition entered by the second entry section 70 to produce main image data, wherein the image and the read condition correspond to each other.
