PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a calibrating device of a width measured value for automatically calibrating the width measured value on a measuring object such as a magnetic tape with a simple structure. SOLUTION: In this calibrating device 12, light floodlighted from a light emitting body 7 is floodlighted onto a calibration reference gage having a prescribed width, and light passing through both ends in the width direction of the calibration reference gage is received by a light receiving body 8, to thereby perform calibration on the width measured value of the measuring object such as the magnetic tape T. The device has a constitution equipped with a measuring object moving means 14 for moving the measuring object places on a conveying route S1 at the regular time to a retreating route U along the floodlighting direction of the light, and a gage moving means for moving the calibration reference gage to the conveying route S1 when the measuring object is moved to the retreating route U.
