PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for purifying water in an aquarium designed to effectively purify the water in the aquarium for ornamental fishes, etc., without using a filter medium. SOLUTION: A pump 40 is operated to transfer the water in the aquarium to a purifying chamber 3. The outside air is simultaneously introduced into the purifying chamber 3 to form bubbles. Thereby, dirt, etc., in the water in the purifying chamber 3 are made to stick to the surfaces of the bubbles. As a result, water quality is purified. The bubble group is increased on the inside of an umbrella part 21 of a bubble collecting member 20 on the water surface and piled up to emerge from an opening 22 in a short time to the outside of the umbrella part 21. The bubble group is then discharged from a sewage passage 23 to a sewage reservoir 5. The purified water is returned from the purifying chamber 3 through a retention chamber 4 to the aquarium.
