The invention relates to a system and a method for monitoring connection-related communication data which is detected by a network node, especially by a switching network node of a telecommunication network and which is used to calculate charges. In order to determine in a precise manner the beginning, the end, and/or the duration of a communication connection and/or special features requested during a connection, suitable measure points (30, 40) of a call simulator (60) are initially sought outside of the network node (20) enabling the beginning and the end of a communication connection to be detected. Systematic measuring error occurring when a predetermined event (beginning or end of the connection) is measured between the point (28, 29) of the actual event and the measuring points(s) (30, 40) is then determined. The systematic measuring error is taken into account for the correction of time-relevant data determined in the call simulator (60).
