METHOD OF TREATING THERMOPLASTIC RESIN COMPOSITION CONTAINING BROMINE FLAME RETARDANT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of treating a thermoplastic resin composition containing a flame retardant, that is, a treating method for efficiently separating a flame retardant component from a resin component to recycle the material.

SOLUTION: The method of treating a thermoplastic resin composition containing a bromine flame retardant comprises bringing the thermoplastic resin composition containing the bromine flame retardant into contact with a basic compound at a temperature of≤200°C to accelerate the debromination reaction of the bromine flame retardant, and then bringing the thermoplastic composition thus treated into contact with a solvent which dissolves at least part of the bromine flame retardant subjected to the above debromination reaction to dissolve and separate at least part of the above bromine flame retardant from the above thermoplastic resin composition.
