PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To place a limit on reproduction quality on the basis of the number of reproduction times and a deadline of reproduction. SOLUTION: A discrimination section 61 allows an encryption processing section 63 to investigate a signature when data temporarily stored in a memory controller 31 include control information, and when the signature is correct, the judgment section 61 provides an output of a judgment result as to whether a corresponding track is a track whose number of reproduction times is limited or a track whose deadline of reproduction is limited and of control information. A reproduction condition extract section 62 extracts the control information required for reproduction processing and detects a current time from a clock signal received from a clock 16 as required to supply it to a decoding processing control section 64. The decoding processing control section 64 calculates a damage parameter for deteriorating reproduction quality to control decoding by an ATRAC decoder 32. A reproduction condition rewrite control section 65 increments the number of reproduction times of the control information for the track whose number of reproduction times is limited by 1 to create new control information, allows the encryption processing section 63 to sign a signature on the new control information through its processing and outputs the result to the memory controller 23.
