PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the workability of fitting a weight to a predetermined position of a safety wire rope. SOLUTION: A gondola body 1 is elevated/lowered in a hoistway 10 by pulling a towing wire rope 3 by a towing winder 2. A safety device body 4 to stop the gondola body 1 by holding a safety wire rope 5 passing through the inside when the gondola body 1 is lowered at an abnormal speed is provided in the gondola body 1. A weight 16 is provided on a lower portion of the safety wire rope and straightness thereof is ensured in order to pass the safety wire rope 5 through the inside of the safety device body 4 in a non-restricted manner. The weight 16 has a through hole in a center portion thereof, through which the safety wire rope 5 passes in the vertical direction, and has a passing notch 16a for allowing the safety wire rope 5 to pass through from a side surface to a center portion and be led into the through hole, and the weight is fitted at a middle position of the safety wire rope 5.
