PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a still picture and a moving picture at the same time while scaling them. SOLUTION: A still picture video signal is written to a still picture area SIA in a video memory 310. Then a moving picture signal is written to a moving picture area MIA in the video memory 310, a picture is scaled while the video signal written to the video memory 310 is read out, and the video signal having been scaled is supplied to a display device.
