PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an image line to which an index signal is added from being destructed due to overwriting for example by a mouse pointer or the like. SOLUTION: An index signal position detecting means 2 acquires position coordinate data of an index signal, while a mouse pointer position detecting means 1 acquires coordinate data of a mouse pointer. Then, a detection comparing means 3 compares the mouse pointer coordinate data obtained by the position detecting means 1 and the index signal coordinate data obtained by the position detecting means 2. Further, a mouse pointer control means 4 controls a mouse pointer movable area limiting means 5 so that the coordinate data of the mouse pointer and those of the index signal are not superposed. As a result, since this limiting means 5 limits the movable area of the mouse pointer, the index signal is no longer destroyed by the mouse pointer. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
