IC CARD AND ADAPTER

A controller IC (17) connected to a flush memory (15) in an IC card (MMC card) (1) includes a pull-down detection section (35), a mode controller (33), a USB mode I/F controller (37), an MS mode I/F controller (39), and an MMC/SD mode I/F controller (41). Moreover, at the side of an adapter, only elements which can be formed easily at a low cost such as a wiring and a resistor are arranged. The pull-down by the resistor is detected by the pull-down detection section (35) and the mode controller (33) selects the USB mode I/F controller (37), the MS mode I/F controller (39), or the MMC/SD mode I/F controller (41) so as to perform switching, there by enabling compatibility with an IC card of other specification.
