The fuel injection unit for internal combustion engines includes a fuel injector (26) and a pressure intensifier (13) installed between the injector and high pressure fuel source (2). A filter element (5) is connected in series to one (16) of the chambers of the pressure intensifier and to the flow lines (10) for the filling of at least one of the chambers of the pressure intensifier. Fuel from the HP source enters the working chamber (15) of the pressure intensifier via a HP pipe (3) without passing through the filter element.
