PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal fixing roller wherein the wear of the release layer surface due to a separation pawl and a thermistor, etc., is reduced and defective fixation is prevented, and to provide a fixing device equipped with the thermal fixing roller. SOLUTION: As for the thermal fixing roller 10 successively provided with a base material 4, an adhesive agent layer 3 and the release layer 1, an intermediate layer 2 having hardness higher than that of the release layer 1 is arranged between the adhesive layer 3 and the release layer 1 in the circumferential direction so as to correspond to the part where the contact wear directly occurs on the release layer 1. The part where the contact wear directly occurs on the release layer 1 means a part where the separation pawl and/or the thermistor directly come into contact with the release layer 1. The intermediate layer 2 is constituted of materials having Vickers hardness HV of≥2. Preferably, carbon fiber having a diameter of≥10μm is good for the intermediate layer. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
