PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultra-fine metal particle which is safe, convenient and suitable for industrial use wherein a boron nitride coated film is deposited on the surface of a metal particle. SOLUTION: The ultra-fine metal particle wherein the surface of the particle is coated with boron nitride is obtained by heat-treating a powder (powder a+b) wherein a powder (powder a) composed of an oxide of a transition metal oxide is mixed with a boron powder (powder b) in an atmosphere of nitrogen gas or ammonia gas or a mixed gas atmosphere containing at least one chosen from these at 800-1,700°C. Here, the particle has an average particle size of≤1μm and is composed of the transition metal or an alloy containing at least one transition metal. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
