PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoplastic resin composition using an azodicarbonamide and an organic peroxide which can manufacture a thermoplastic resin foam with high productivity, and a method for manufacturing the thermoplastic resin foam. SOLUTION: The thermoplastic resin composition comprises a thermoplastic resin which is preferably a polyethylene resin, and (1) an organic peroxide, (2) an azodicarbonamide, (3) a magnesium salt (A) of a linear higher fatty acid or a calcium salt (B) of a linear higher fatty acid, and (4) zinc oxide or a zinc salt of a linear higher fatty acid in an amount of (3) the magnesium salt (A) of a linear higher fatty acid or the calcium salt (B) of a linear higher fatty acid of 0.2-5 pts.wt. and in an amount of (4) the zinc oxide or the zinc salt of a linear higher fatty acid of 0.01-0.5 pt.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. the above thermoplastic resin. The method for manufacturing the thermoplastic resin foam comprises heating this thermoplastic resin composition at a temperature of not lower than the decomposition temperature of the azodicarbonamide to effect foaming.
