A high-resolution spectrometer has a slit array with a dispersing lens system and a two-dimensional color wavelength detector for the split beam. The spectrum image created by the slit array is especially transposed in width by almost a whole multiple of the average gap between two neighboring detectors. The slits forming the slit array are transposed above each other in the longitudinal direction and laterally with respect to the horizontal. The array can be formed of slits transposed with respect to each other or as inclined slits.
