<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple, convenient and economical method for producing a metal oxide powder which can control its size finely and uniformly and control the powder shape anisotropy like a spherical shape, a bar shape and the like freely. <P>SOLUTION: A metal oxide nanopowder excellent in shape anisotropy and magnetic characteristics is produced by performing the steps in the order such as a step of settling and separating a gel amorphous metal oxide powder by adding a proton scavenger to a reversed micelle solution formed by adding distilled water, a surfactant and a solvent to a trivalent or higher metal salt, a step of controlling the molar ratio of the metal oxide to the surfactant by washing the gel amorphous metal oxide powder with a polar solvent and a step of crystallizing the metal oxide nanopowder through heating or a reflux reaction after dispersing the gel amorphous metal oxide powder in a nonpolar solvent having a high boiling point. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
