PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide which is made smaller, easily manufactured and has a switching function and to provide a connecting structure of optical fibers. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal element 3 is arranged between optical waveguides or optical fibers 1 and 2 or optical waveguides and the optical fibers 1 and 2.
