PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste material handling device and a waste material handling method capable of efficiently handling each of various lengthy waste materials, simple and inexpensive. SOLUTION: This device 1 is furnished with a conveyor device 2 to transfer a plurality of the lengthy waste materials W in the longitudinal direction, a press device 3 to press the transferring side of the waste materials arranged on the downstream side of the conveyor device and a cutting device 4 to cut the transferring side of the waste materials arranged on the downstream side of the press device and pressed, and it is devised to transfer, press and cut the waste materials in a state of matching a press position PL and a shaft center CL of the waste materials with each other. It is favorable that the conveyor device 2 has a transferring height adjusting mechanism capable of adjusting transferring height of the waste materials. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
